About Vitality Family Healthcare

What is Vitality Family Healthcare?

Vitality Family Healthcare is a direct primary care practice at 1028 N. Webb Rd, Ste. E, Grand Island, NE 68803. Dr. Peterson opened it in January 2023 and prescribes there. Its main business is family medicine on a flat monthly membership, for patients from newborns to grandparents. The obesity weight management program and hormone therapy are two of its services, not the whole practice. Other listed services include carpal tunnel release, microneedling with PRP, PRP injection for erectile dysfunction, IUD placement, vasectomy and the Galleri test. It does not list peptide therapy or longevity medicine. In its own words: "Direct Primary Care is straightforward. You pay a flat monthly fee and you get a doctor." Telehealth comes at no added cost with membership. It names Grand Island, Kearney, Hastings, York and several other towns as its service area. It has a 4.8 rating on Google from 18 reviews.

What does it cost?

Membership is $50 a month for ages 0 to 18, $80 for ages 19 to 39 and $120 for ages 40 and up. Each person has their own membership, and there is no enrollment fee. Other listings show $30, $60, $80 and $100 a month by age group, so ask which rate applies. A one-time visit without membership is $150. In its own words: "Membership is month-to-month. There's no minimum term and no fee to cancel." Rejoining after cancelling costs a $300 re-enrollment fee. After-hours calls and texts are $50. Labs, imaging and medications are billed separately, and the baseline panel for new patients is about $170.

The Obesity Medicine Program is listed at $200 a month, which includes membership. A separate program listing gives $150 a month for people in the program only. The two figures are not reconciled, and it does not say whether medication is included in either. Hormone therapy is listed as BHRT for women at $100 a month or $260 per insert, BHRT for men at $150 a month or $520 per insert, HRT for women at $300, HRT for women with progesterone at $350 and HRT for men at $500. The HRT prices carry an added debit or credit fee. PRP injection for erectile dysfunction is $300.

Membership does not require insurance, and the practice encourages keeping coverage for surgery and hospital care. It does not say whether it bills insurance. It also says HSA funds may now be usable toward membership, depending on the plan. It does not publish office hours.

What should you ask before you book?

Ask which price applies to the obesity program, $200 or $150 a month, and whether either one includes medication. Ask whether the medication is brand-name or compounded, and what it costs each month on top of the fee. Ask who signs hormone prescriptions and who follows up on them. Ask what lab work costs over a year, since labs are billed separately, and whether follow-up visits for the program are covered by the monthly fee.

Ask which age rate applies to you, since the listings disagree. Ask for office hours, which it does not publish, and how after-hours care works. Ask whether it bills insurance for any service. Ask for the cancellation terms in writing, including what the $300 re-enrollment fee covers.

Who is it a good fit for?

This is a good fit if you want a family doctor you can reach by phone, text or video, you are ready to pay a monthly fee for that access, and you want weight management or hormone therapy from a practice that gives prices for them. Call before you book, since the program price and the medication details are not settled in its listings. It is not a fit if you are looking for peptide or longevity medicine, because it does not list either.
